Caleb Hamman

Caleb HammanCaleb Hamman graduated from Butler University in 2011 with a BA in politics and philosophy. He is currently pursuing a master’s at Queen’s University Belfast as a US-UK Fulbright scholar.

Following his return to the USA in the fall, he will begin a PhD in political science and peace studies at the University of Notre Dame. His current research concerns youth culture, football, and the legacy of conflict in North Belfast.

Caleb enjoys basketball, running, and attempting to lift weights. He likes books by Don DeLillo, Jonathan Franzen, and Michael Chabon. He binges on epic stories, including such notables as Harry Potter, the Lord of the Rings, His Dark Materials, and A Song of Ice and Fire, but he has been known to stoop much lower than that, allegedly gorging himself on the likes of Christopher Paolini, Dragon Ball Z, Patrick Rothfuss, and Avatar: The Last Airbender. Caleb also enjoys the following random things: Kanye West, “The Wire,” cats, coffee, Clif Bars, Kobe Bryant, Birkenstocks, Georgia O’Keeffe, wool socks, the Green Bay Packers, Belgian beers, trees, Bertrand Russell, Italy, board games, Bach, vegetarian chili, the new Batman films, meditation, Platonic dialogues, no limit Texas hold’em, Thus Spoke Zarathustra, and tall-sized clothing. He collects coffee cups and unread books and likes to dwell in gardens, around children, within earshot of rushing water, and in philosophy seminars for which he has done the reading.

Caleb is from places-you’ve-never-heard-of Indiana. He returns from time to time to gaze at the soybeans and to spend time with his family and friends.
